Questions about electrolysis Q & A's About Electrolysis

Electrolysis

  • Q.: Is it permanent?
A.: Yes, with a series of treatments over a period of time, electrolysis is permanent. Its permanency is recognized by physicians and by hundreds of scientific articles published in medical journals and literature. In addition to physician and scientific recognition, there are millions of happy and satisfied clients who have solved their excess hair problems with the help of electrolysis.
  • Q.: How much does it cost?
A.: Electrolysis in most cases is very affordable. Cost is determined by time increment, which is usually broken down into 15 minute segments. Cost per segment is as follows: $30 15 minutes $40 30 minutes $50 45 minutes $60 60 minutes
  • Q.: How will my skin look after a treatment?
A.: Electrolysis, like many minor health care procedures, may have a short healing phase. During this time, there may be some transient redness or swelling and occasionally some pinpoint scabbing. The amount of redness and slight swelling will depend on the amount of electrolysis you have in an area.
  • Q.: How many treatments will it take?
A.: Your treatment schedule will be determined by whether or not you are shaving, tweezing, waxing or not doing anything at all to the area. If the area has been tweezed or waxed, the electrologist will schedule visits more frequently (weekly or bi-weekly) until all of the hairs have been treated once, usually over a 3 month period. After that time, treatments will gradually taper off. Another important factor in the length of time it will take to be successful with electrolysis is whether the area treated can be cleared during each treatment. If the electrologist is not able to take enough time to clear the area with each treatment, the amount of treatments needed will be increased. For optimum results, adherence to the schedule of appointments determined by the electrologist is very important.
  • Q.: Is electrolysis safe?
A.: Electrolysis has a history of over 100 years of safety and effectiveness. It is important to select an electrologist who is experienced and follows the most up-to-date effective methods of sterilization guidelines. In Massachusetts, these guidelines are set up by a state board governing the practice of electrolysis.
  • Q.: Is the treatment painful?
A.: There is some discomfort associated with an electrolysis treatment, although it can vary depending on a client’s tolerance level. A definite sensation should be noticed and can be described as a slight stinging sensation. This can be greatly reduced using a topical anesthetic that is applied to the treated area 45 minutes prior to treatment. Your electrologist can provide you with the information you need to obtain an effective topical.
  • Q.: Do I have to let the hair grow out before a treatment?
A.: There has to be enough length for the electrologist to grasp the hair with forceps in order to remove it from the skin after it is treated. Once you begin treatment, you can no longer continue tweezing or waxing the area. However, cutting the hairs or in some cases shaving between visits is recommended.

Questions about IPL, Questions about hair removal with IPL Q & A's About IPL Hair Removal

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Acne Treatment Acne begins with the over secretion of sebum (natural oils) in your skin, which traps skin cells and does not allow them to shed. The cells build up and clog the pores. These clogged pores trap bacteria inside, and as the bacteria multiply, it results in inflammation and acne.

  • Q.: Can I continue to take prescribed medication during IPL treatments?
A.: Clients taking Accutane must wait 6 months after going off Accutane to have IPL treatments. Other prescription medication and over the counter topical medication creams or cleansers will enhance IPL treatments for acne.
  • Q.: How many treatments will it take?
A.: An IPL acne treatment might take between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the extent of the effected area. For optimal results, treatments should be scheduled twice a week for 4 weeks
  • Q.: How does IPL work on acne?
A.: The different wave lengths of light penetrate into clogged pores and trigger a photo-thermal reaction which causes oxygen to be released, thus killing bacteria and reducing inflammation. The heat helps to open clogged pores and speeds up this healing process.

Questions about teeth whitening Q & A's About Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

  • Q: Is the BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening treatment for everyone?
A: The BEYOND™Teeth Whitening treatment provides dramatic results for anyone who wants to whiten their teeth. This includes people with teeth that have been stained by smoking or by substances such as coffee or tea. Pregnant women or clients under 16 years of age should not receive the BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening treatment.
  • Q: How white will my teeth get?
A: After undergoing whitening with the BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening System, teeth shades can brighten between 5 to 10 shades, with an average improvement of eight shades on the Beyond Teeth Whitening Shade Guide. Typically two 20 minute segments can result in a noticeable difference, although clients can continue on for a third 20 minute segment. Results will depend on how discolored the teeth were originally.
  • Q: How long will the whitening last?
A: This varies from person to person and depends on your diet and lifestyle, but the effects usually last for about two years. Periodic touch-up treatments are recommended for clients who frequently consume coffee or other staining foods and drinks or for those that use tobacco products.
  • Q Is it safe?
A: Yes, scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in the BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening Gel are effective and safe for cosmetic tooth whitening. The dental community has used these ingredients in performing teeth whitening for years. The BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening Gel does not change or damage the structure of the teeth; it merely makes them appear white and shiny.
  • Q: What is the difference between BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening and other methods of tooth whitening?
A: Although BEYOND™ Teeth Whitening uses the same cold-light power whitening technology seen in professional dental offices, it has been specially adapted for the cosmetic beauty industry. Designed with the comfort and safety of the client in mind, our 60 minute treatment is safer, gentler, and produces superior results to other teeth whitening options.
  • Q: Will it hurt?
A: Most clients experience no pain or sensitivity during or after the treatment. A very small percentage of clients may feel some minor tooth sensitivity, especially if they consume very cold or hot foods or drinks within a few hours after the treatment. Therefore it is recommended that clients avoid consuming extremely hot or cold food or beverages for the first 24 hours following the treatment.

Question about IPL Photo Rejuvenation, Question about photo rejuvenation with IPL Q & A's About IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photo Rejuvenation As our skin ages, various factors lead to its degeneration and imperfections in our skin. Advances in the treatment of aging skin have continued to improve, from dermabrasion to chemical peels to laser skin resurfacing. These procedures had to be administered by a doctor, and almost always involved a lengthy recovery period. IPL is the most exciting advancement in skin care because it is designed to treat skin damage in a softer, gentler way with little or now downtime between visits. Treatments with LHE™ are safe, easy and effective for fine lines, rosacea, irregular pigmentation, and large pores. Photo Rejuvenation is not limited to the face, because other areas of the body can benefit from photorejuvenation as well. Areas that are particularly affected by sun and aging are the chest, hands and arms, and lower legs.

  • Q.: What does Photo Rejuvenation address?
A.: Photo Rejuvenation addresses skin affected by sun exposure and normal aging causing: Brown spots Fine lines Rosacea Broken capillaries *Uneven skin tone *If you suffer from an uneven skin tone due to brown spots caused by unprotected sun exposure, your skin will look noticeably different in less than two weeks after one photo facial.
  • Q.: How long is a treatment session?
A.: An average treatment session takes about 30 minutes.
  • Q.: How does a Photo Facial treat aging skin?
A.: With a photo facial, the light and heat penetrate into the epidermis and papillary layers of the skin targeting damaged cells to cause a mild thermal trauma in the affected area below the skin without damaging the outer layers of skin. This process is followed by the production of new cells, because it is the body’s natural response to heal and replace old cells with new ones.
  • Q.: How many treatments should I have?
A.: A series of 3-6 treatments, 2-3 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.
  • Q.: Is the treated area red or swollen after treatment?
A.: The treated area may appear slightly pink and feel like a mild sunburn after treatment. Pigmented lesions, capillaries, and rosacea may seem a little more prominent, and the pigmented lesions may form a thin crust for about a week or two before fading completely. The end result will leave skin with an overall improved skin tone.
